Vietnam's para-sports delegation attended the flag-raising ceremony at the athletes' village in Nagoya before the 2026 Asian Para Games. Van Hoa reports continued training and completion of competition procedures during the preparation period.

Twenty-one athletes in five sports

The delegation has 36 members, including 21 athletes in athletics, swimming, powerlifting, table tennis and badminton. Nguyen Trong Ho, deputy head of Vietnam's sports administration, leads the group.

Advance staff prepared living and training arrangements. Teams are attending technical meetings, becoming familiar with venues and completing required classification procedures.

Badminton and table tennis preliminary activity began on October 16 and continues on October 17 in the reported schedule. Preliminary participation does not establish a medal result.

Opening ceremony and competition dates

Powerlifter Le Van Cong is scheduled to carry Vietnam's flag at the October 18 opening ceremony. That planned role is separate from the village flag ceremony already held.

The report anticipates approximately 3,000 athletes from 45 countries and territories across 18 sports. Main competition runs from October 19 to 23, before the October 24 closing ceremony.

Those event-wide numbers differ from Vietnam's own delegation size. They are not counts of athletes who have already completed their events.

Vietnam's performance objectives remain ahead. Training, recovery and understanding competition requirements are the immediate tasks, with sporting results requiring separate updates after athletes complete their contests rather than being inferred from preparation or ceremonial activity.
