European consumers bought about 1.64 million battery-electric vehicles in the first eight months of 2026, up 45% year on year, according to Transport & Environment figures cited by VnExpress. The vehicles represented roughly 22% of the market covered by the report, an increase of six percentage points. T&E linked the growth to more affordable small models and higher fuel costs, with nearly 40 new models introduced during the first half of the year. These are eight-month European figures, rather than full-year results or sales data for Vietnam.
