Alex Ferguson has reflected on not meeting Pep Guardiola earlier when considering his Manchester United successor, VnExpress reported. In Games of My Life, published on October 8, he recalls a 2012 dinner in New York, when Guardiola was already looking towards Bayern Munich and Ferguson had not firmly decided to retire. He believes an earlier discussion might have offered another chance to persuade him. The account concerns the transition before 2013, rather than a current coaching approach.
