Fox News has introduced new control rooms for its November 3 election-night operation, according to Variety. Washington news and politics executive Doug Rohrbeck described a system intended to share reporting and resources across television, streaming, digital and social platforms.

Distribution without separate production silos

Rather than earmarking a correspondent's report for a single television segment or social clip, the design allows platforms to select suitable presentations from shared information and data. Rohrbeck framed the aim as reaching people without duplicating the entire operation.

Its election-night plan paired Fox News Channel and Fox Business coverage while giving Fox Nation and Fox News Digital a separate Ruthless Live! format. The examples illustrate different products drawing on the wider organisation.

AI and fragmented viewing habits

Variety also describes a chatbot answering questions about races and voting trends from Fox News reporting.

The changes address audiences spread across live television, on-demand programmes, clips and social feeds. Graphics and augmented-reality teams form part of the wider operation.

Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum lead the main coverage, with Trace Gallagher assigned the overnight hours. Bill Hemmer describes political, graphics and augmented-reality teams working across the operation. Fox chief executive Lachlan Murdoch had also linked weaker third-quarter and October ratings with news fatigue. The shared rooms form part of the company's response to those varied viewing habits.
