Vietnam's average imported-pork price fell to around VND45,000 per kilogram in the first eight months of the year, 36% below a year earlier, VnExpress reported, citing customs data. Imports reached 124,100 tonnes valued at $213 million. Domestic live-hog prices were around VND53,000-56,000 per kilogram on October 6, depending on the region, putting pressure on producers facing high costs. The VND45,000 figure is an average import price, not a retail price applying to every pork product sold in shops.
