Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group, or TKV, has opened an amateur arts festival involving more than 1,000 non-professional singers and performers. Organisers say 26 groups are presenting 146 acts as part of activities marking 90 years of mining workers' and coal-industry traditions on November 12.
Performers come from workplaces
Participants represent group subsidiaries and a local Quảng Ninh delegation, bringing performers from worksites and workshops. Their programmes address national and local life, labour, mining communities and the industry's development. The announced total is the programme's planned participation, rather than a count of completed competition performances.
Hòn Gai Coal Company, Cửa Ông Coal Preparation Company and the Quảng Ninh delegation performed immediately after the opening. Representatives of local departments, TKV and the coal-minerals trade union attended alongside workers and members of the public.
Exchanges and grassroots talent
The festival is intended to identify artistic talent within production units and let groups exchange staging and performance experience. Organisers also emphasise connections among workers and the continuation of workplace cultural activities.
The published schedule says group competition performances will continue through October 23. A review, showcase and awards ceremony is planned afterward, giving organisers an opportunity to present selected acts again. The programme also seeks to identify and develop artistic talent within workplaces.
At the reporting point, the festival had opened and remained in progress. The number of acts should not be confused with awards, and the report had not announced winning groups or final rankings.
