Manchester United U18 drew 1–1 at Nottingham Forest on October 17 after Rabbi Ntege cancelled out Kai Rooney's early goal. Darren Fletcher's side had been seeking a fifth consecutive league victory.

United's report describes long periods of visiting control, missed opportunities and important saves from Forest goalkeeper Alastair Graham. The team remains unbeaten since its opening match of the season.

Rooney rewards early pressure

Fletcher made five changes from the previous Premier League Cup draw with Chelsea. Nathaniel-Junior Brown threatened early before Emmanuel Ziro pressed Graham into a loose-ball situation.

Rooney converted from close range in the thirteenth minute for his first U18 league goal of the campaign. A second finish approximately seven minutes later was ruled out for offside.

Graham then denied Jay McEvoy, Brown and Rooney. Forest did not register a first-half shot, but United's advantage remained only one goal.

Ntege combination earns a point

Brown continued threatening after the break. Graham parried one effort, and Okello Odongo Bartley blocked Rooney's follow-up volley.

Forest improved, with Shakur Samuels forcing Charlie Hardy into a save and sending a free kick narrowly wide. Fletcher introduced fresh players before the hosts levelled in the 78th minute.

Jubilee Ntege supplied his brother Rabbi, whose dipping finish found the corner. Late attempts by Jariyah Shah and McEvoy did not restore United's lead.

United next host Liverpool at Carrington on October 24. Rooney's U21 appearance the previous evening was a separate fixture from this U18 draw.
