Nguyễn Lê Phát headed the winner as Ninh Bình beat Bắc Ninh 2-1 in the seventh round of the V.League on 7 November. SGGP Sports reported that the result at Ninh Bình Arena ended a three-match winless run for the hosts.

The goal came shortly after Lê Phát was named in Vietnam’s senior squad for the first time, according to SGGP. His contribution gave coach Chu Đình Nghiêm’s team three points before the international gathering.

A decisive first half

Centre-back Lucas Turci put Ninh Bình ahead with a free kick. Bắc Ninh then levelled before Quốc Việt delivered from the right for Lê Phát to rise and head the hosts back in front.

Thanh Niên reported that all three goals came in the first half. SGGP described Turci’s opening free kick as being taken from approximately 27 metres.

Bắc Ninh could not find another equaliser after the interval and Ninh Bình protected the lead to the finish. The result gave the home side a lift after their recent run without a win.

Club form before the national camp

SGGP placed Ninh Bình provisionally third on 13 points after seven rounds, with Bắc Ninh 11th on eight at the time of its report. Those positions remain subject to the other results in the round.

Bóng Đá 24h counted the header as Lê Phát’s fourth league goal of the season and said he had previously been involved with Vietnam’s under-23 side. That provides context for his senior call-up, but selection for a national-team match remains a decision for the coaching staff.

Ninh Bình gained ground near the top, while Bắc Ninh continue their effort to improve their position. More Vietnam football news.
