The ninth Ho Chi Minh City Techcombank International Marathon will run from December 4 to 6, with organisers expecting more than 24,000 domestic and international participants. VnExpress reports that the 5 km event will take place separately on the afternoon of December 5 for the first time.
Previously held on the main race day, the shorter distance is being moved to accommodate beginners, families and recreational running groups.
Three-day activities and digital support
The Marathon Village will offer exhibitions, meetings and activities throughout the three days. KIDS RUN is also scheduled for December 5, with Techcom Life as its main sponsor.
Organisers are introducing SEV RunConcierge, an AI-based assistant on the NeuRun platform. It will help participants find event details, schedules and information about local attractions and tourism services. The tool was previously used at the fifth Hanoi Techcombank marathon.
Sunrise Events Vietnam operates the event, while Techcombank remains strategic sponsor. Ho Chi Minh City's municipal authorities and tourism and sports departments oversee its organisation.
Running alongside tourism week
The marathon coincides with the city's sixth Tourism Week, held December 4-12. The route includes major city landmarks and carries the certifications described by VnExpress from AIMS and Vietnam's athletics federation.
The 2025 edition drew more than 23,200 participants from 81 countries and territories. Organisers estimate more than $25.7 million in combined economic impact for 2022-2025.
For the next edition, participants can plan around the December 5 afternoon 5 km race, the children's event and the three-day Marathon Village programme.
