Ha Noi topped the 2026 national elite chess championship standings, with Ho Chi Minh City second, SGGP reported. The closing blitz and faster-format events produced different winners across the men's and women's competitions.

Separate speed-event results

Nguyen Nam Kiet won men's blitz with eight points from nine rounds. Tran Tuan Minh and Tran Dang Minh Quang followed with 7.5 each. Le Tuan Minh won men's bullet with 8.5, ahead of Tran Dang Minh Quang and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son.

Overall medals cover several formats

Ho Chi Minh City's titles came through Bao Tram in women's standard chess and Tran Quoc Dung in men's ASEAN rapid. The overall table therefore extends beyond the final speed events.

Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son finished fourth in men’s blitz despite expectations before the event. Ho Chi Minh City’s titles came in standard and ASEAN chess, while Ha Noi won across several sections. Teams can now review those distinct results when preparing their next competition programmes.
