Floyd Mayweather has announced a planned exhibition against Australian boxer Matty Floyd in Bangkok on December 19, VnExpress reported. Mayweather described it as preparation for a proposed Ryan Garcia meeting in 2027, with neither future contest yet completed.
Different categories of experience
Floyd, 37, began professional boxing in 2021. The report lists a conventional professional record of 15 wins and two defeats, including ten knockout victories.
His latest professional boxing appearance cited was a points loss to Jack Gregory in June 2025. He has also competed in exhibitions and bare-knuckle events, including a September 2025 BKFC meeting with James DeGale.
That BKFC result is recorded separately from his 15-2 professional boxing record. The distinction matters when assessing the experience he brings to a proposed exhibition.
Mayweather’s post-retirement programme
Mayweather finished his professional boxing career with 50 wins and no defeats. He returned to face Conor McGregor in August 2017 after an earlier retirement announcement and subsequently continued with exhibitions.
VnExpress recalled eight such events between 2018 and 2024 as background, separate from the contests making up his unbeaten professional record.
The article also relayed Floyd's Boxing News account of a difficult past and opening a gym in Perth after prison. He said he wanted to help disadvantaged young people through sport.
The next development is organisational information for the announced Bangkok plan. Mayweather's reference to Garcia states his intention, rather than confirming a completed contract or a specific 2027 date.
