US personal consumption expenditures prices rose 3.4% year on year in August 2026, while core PCE increased 3%, according to a September 30 Commerce Department report covered by the Vietnam News Agency. Monthly increases were 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively.
Annual readings were below forecasts but remained above the Federal Reserve's 2% inflation target. VietnamPlus reported that traders reduced expectations of an October rate rise and shifted the anticipated timing towards December. Those are market expectations, not an announced Fed decision for its next meeting.
