Management describes a shift in priorities

In the message obtained by Variety, the executives said the business remained strong and growing and that its full-year forecast was unchanged. They described the restructuring as a choice about where to prioritise people and resources. A spokesperson offered no additional comment beyond the message.

Netflix had about 16,000 full-time employees at the end of 2025, according to the report. Its previous major cuts were around 450 positions in 2022, followed by smaller reductions, including several dozen global product-team roles earlier in 2026. Those dates provide context without establishing one common cause for every round.

Earnings are due on 20 October

The company is scheduled to report third-quarter results after market close on 20 October. Second-quarter revenue was US$12.6 billion, up 13.4% year on year, with a 33.4% operating margin.

Its 2026 outlook remains US$51–51.4 billion in revenue and a 31.5% operating margin, forecasts rather than completed annual results. The message says transition arrangements will vary by country, but gives no market-by-market staffing detail. It therefore does not establish a Vietnamese exit or identify particular local employees as affected.
