Netflix is developing a film adaptation of Gary Paulsen's Hatchet, with Derek Cianfrance writing and directing, Variety reported on 12 October. Andrew Mittman is producing in partnership with the author's estate. The 1987 novel follows teenager Brian Robeson surviving in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash. The report does not announce cast, a filming start date or release timing. The accompanying image is a book cover, rather than a poster for a completed Netflix film.
