Ninh Binh beat HAGL 4-3 on October 18, with Nguyen Le Phat scoring in the 90th minute to complete a remarkable home victory.
The result took Ninh Binh to ten points after four V-League rounds, one ahead of Cong an Ha Noi, according to VnExpress. HAGL remained on three points in 12th place.
Early goals and a sending-off
Nguyen Hoang Duc opened the scoring after two minutes. Nguyen Thanh Nhan equalised almost immediately, finishing across goal after Luann Augusto's through ball.
Ninh Binh defender Lucas Turci received a straight red card in the 19th minute for a foul on Jacintho as the HAGL forward threatened to break through on goal.
Jacintho then supplied Augusto to put HAGL 2-1 ahead in the 32nd minute. Nguyen Quoc Viet restored parity with a shot from around 20 metres after receiving Hoang Duc's pass.
Late twists decide the contest
Second-half substitute Lucao Vinicius hit the crossbar before giving Ninh Binh a 3-2 lead in the 72nd minute.
Martins Romeu's own goal, following Phan Nhat Thanh Long's run and cross, brought HAGL level four minutes later. Vo Phuoc Bao was then sent off in the 81st minute, leaving both sides with ten players.
HAGL tried to protect the draw, but Ninh Binh found the winner from a quickly taken free-kick. Hoang Duc delivered the ball into the area, where Le Phat controlled it and finished at the near post.
The winning move rewarded a Ninh Binh side that had spent much of the match a player short. For HAGL, the defeat followed several opportunities to leave with at least a point.
