OPEC has lowered its forecast for growth in global oil demand in 2026 to 400,000 barrels a day, VietnamPlus reported on 12 October. Secretary general Haitham Al Ghais said that compares with 1.4 million barrels a day projected early in the year, while expecting deferred demand to recover in 2027. He also warned of insufficient energy investment. The 400,000 figure is forecast additional demand, rather than total consumption or a production quota.
