Hur Jin-ho's film is set around the 1974 attempt to assassinate President Park Chung-hee. Park discussed the period atmosphere with the director and crew while concentrating on making the character and newsroom feel credible.
The project reunites him with Hur after The Last Princess. He also praised co-stars Yoo Hae-jin, who plays a detective, and Lee Min-ho, who portrays a junior reporter.
The Assassin(s) is scheduled for release on September 23. Park said he sees it as a film that leaves viewers with questions rather than prescribing a message, and is looking forward to audience reactions.
