According to Variety, the first film accompanies Netflix's September 10 coverage of the Los Angeles Rams against the San Francisco 49ers from Melbourne. Berg is also preparing openers for the platform's other NFL broadcast dates, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and a Week 18 game in January 2027.
Berg directed the 2004 Friday Night Lights film, while Chandler played Coach Taylor in the television adaptation. The assignment continues Berg's work across sport and screen storytelling. He also has The Mosquito Bowl scheduled for release later in the year through Netflix.
