Vietnam has roughly 7,000 supporting-industry businesses, about 88% of them small or medium-sized, according to Ministry of Industry and Trade figures cited by the government news portal. Around 1,000 can supply assemblers and multinational companies directly, with domestic firms accounting for about 30% of that group. The report identifies constraints in technology, management, standards and technical skills, especially in higher-value activities. It also cautions that supply rates for particular types of components are not the same as the domestic-value share of a finished product.
