Well Go USA has acquired North American rights to Park Hoon-jung's Tristes Tropiques. Variety reported that sales company Finecut closed a fresh round of deals ahead of the American Film Market and the thriller's scheduled November 25 theatrical release in South Korea.

New buyers extend the distribution network

Swift Distribution acquired French-speaking territories, Alfa Pictures took Spain and Andorra, Blue Swan Entertainment secured Italy and CaiChang International bought Taiwan.

They join previously announced buyers covering Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the Indian subcontinent, Indonesia and Mongolia. Well Go USA has an existing relationship with Park, having released his The Witch films and The Childe in North America.

The distributor's president and chief executive Doris Pfardrescher welcomed the continued collaboration, praising the new film's mixture of action, emotion and visual style.

A killing fractures an assassin group

The fictional story follows young assassins trained by a figure known as Master in a tropical rainforest. When their leader is found dead, uncertainty over the killer turns the group against itself.

Lee Sin-young, Park Yu-rim, Kim Myung-min and Park Hae-soo star alongside Taiwanese actors Austin Lin, Chen Yi-Wen and Wang Po-Chieh. Park's Gold Moon Pictures produced, with Studio&New co-producing and Mindmark presenting.

The film has already received the Silver Raven at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival and the Grand Prix Nouveau Genre Canal+ at Paris's L'Etrange Festival. It was also selected to close the London Korean Film Festival.

Its next announced theatrical milestone is the November 25 Korean opening, while Finecut continues presenting the film to international buyers.
