Ten artisan nomination files from Quang Ngai will move forward to the national-level council in the fourth round of state honorary title assessments. According to Bao Van Hoa, they have cleared the ministry's specialist council, which is an intermediate stage rather than a final decision to award the titles.
Two nominees, A Thu and Y Sinh, are being proposed for the People's Artisan title. Both are associated with the Space of Gong Culture in the Central Highlands. The other eight files seek recognition at the Meritorious Artisan level.
The heritage represented includes Ta leu singing, Ca choi, the Hre people's three-gong performance tradition, central Vietnam's Bai choi and gong arts. The nominees are involved in maintaining, practising and passing these forms of culture on within their communities.
The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has notified the relevant local authorities and individuals of the results. Eleven files were reviewed by the ministry-level specialist council, and ten met the conditions to proceed. The next step is consideration by the national council under the applicable process; the successful candidates have not yet received final state recognition through this stage alone.
