Quang Ngai is targeting 45 medals at the tenth National Sports Games in 2026. Van Hoa reports a plan for five golds, nine silvers and 31 bronzes announced at the delegation's departure ceremony.

Athletes selected for twelve sports

The group comprises 136 athletes and 30 coaches. Wushu, Vovinam, traditional martial arts and boxing are identified as priority disciplines with medal potential.

Provincial representatives presented the flag and encouraged the team. The numerical objectives are preparation targets rather than a completed medal table.

Culture, sports and tourism department director Pham Thi Trung called for compliance with rules and suitable tactical preparation, alongside support for athletes in each event.

Grassroots activity supplies a different foundation

The article also describes nearly 6,500 participants, including almost 5,000 athletes, at the provincial sports festival. That local activity has a different scope from the 136-athlete national delegation.

Grassroots events help identify potential talent for higher-level teams. Their size does not automatically establish achievement of the national medal target.

Athlete representative Luong Ba Ta pledged honest competition and respect for opponents and officials. Coach representative Pham Quoc Anh emphasised responsibility for training and technical support.

The source says preparations were largely complete at departure. The next task is translating that work into actual performances under the competition schedule. Five golds and 45 total medals therefore remain ambitions until events are completed and results confirmed, rather than honours already attributable to Quang Ngai's 2026 delegation.
