Chelsea have confirmed that Rachael Adedini has signed her first professional contract with the club. The 17-year-old forward can play centrally or in wide attacking positions.

Born in Le Havre, France, Adedini has made 24 appearances for France's Under-17s and two at Under-19 level. Chelsea introduced her as a dynamic, versatile player as she takes the next step in her career.

A notable European youth record

Adedini has appeared at three consecutive Women's Under-17 European Championships since the 2023-24 campaign. Her nine goals across those tournaments have drawn her level with Germany's Shekiera Martinez as the competition's all-time leading scorer.

France reached the 2026 final before losing 1-0 to Germany. Adedini nevertheless finished with the Golden Boot, having scored in a 5-0 group-stage victory over Poland and twice in a 4-1 win against Finland.

Those achievements provide the youth international background to Chelsea's announcement as she moves into professional football.

Family pride at Chelsea

Adedini expressed happiness, excitement and gratitude after signing. She said her brother is a major Chelsea supporter and that the family's longstanding affection for the club made the moment a source of pride.

Chelsea welcomed the young forward and said they looked forward to watching her progress. The announcement did not disclose the contract's duration or financial terms. It confirms the completion of her first professional agreement, while her future appearances and development will follow in the next phase of her career.
