Robinho Junior made his Serie A debut as a late substitute in Genoa's 2-0 defeat by Roma at the Olimpico, according to BongdaPlus.

The 18-year-old Brazilian forward received his first top-flight minutes after a productive start with Genoa's Primavera team.

Youth performances lead to an opportunity

Robinho Junior joined Genoa from Santos on the final day of the summer transfer window. The reported loan agreement includes an option to buy for eight million euros.

Before his promotion to Daniele De Rossi's first team, he scored three goals and supplied one assist in three Primavera appearances.

Those performances earned him an opportunity in the senior squad, although his debut came too late to change the outcome against Roma. Genoa left without a point, while the young forward took an individual step forward in his adaptation to Italian football.

The appearance does not mean that the purchase option has been exercised. His move remains described as a loan in the source report.

A familiar league for the family

His father, Robinho, played for AC Milan and was part of their 2011 Serie A title-winning team. He spent four seasons with the Italian club after earlier spells at Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The family connection has drawn attention to Robinho Junior's arrival, but his own youth-team output provided the immediate route to a senior opportunity.

Three productive Primavera matches have now been followed by a first Serie A appearance. Earning a larger role in Genoa's first team remains the next stage of the teenager's development.
