Teams have completed their entries for rowing and canoeing at Vietnam's 10th National Sports Games, organisers told Sài Gòn Giải Phóng (SGGP). Both disciplines are scheduled at Đá Bàng Lake in Ho Chi Minh City.
The newspaper gives November 15–20 for canoeing and November 24–29 for rowing. Some crews have already arrived to adjust to the climate and water before competition.
Events and entries
Rowing is scheduled to award medals in 22 events over 2,000 metres, divided equally between 11 men's and 11 women's events. SGGP lists single, double, four-person and eight-person boats and says around 20 units have registered.
Canoeing and kayak account for 37 medal events in the report. The named paddlers include Diệp Thị Hương of Công an Nhân dân, Nguyễn Thị Hương of Hải Phòng and Nguyễn Hồng Thái of Thái Nguyên. SGGP also names Hiên Năm of Đà Nẵng, Hoàng Thị Hường and Hoàng Thị Lâm of Hải Phòng, and Bùi Mai Hạnh of Quảng Ninh among the paddlers.
Preparing for conditions
According to SGGP, the rowing field includes athletes who competed at ASIAD 20 from localities including Đà Nẵng, Hà Nội, Hưng Yên, Ho Chi Minh City, Quảng Trị, Hải Phòng and Hà Tĩnh. Crew events depend on coordination among teammates as well as individual ability.
The newspaper says teams have spent days adapting to the lake and climate, and notes that weather can affect performance. The published dates remain the pre-event schedule. Detailed starts, confirmed entries and results should be checked against official updates as the Games proceed.
