After the Sept. 13 derby, Haaland reacts to VAR’s initial ruling on his goal
After Manchester City's 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sept. 13, Erling Haaland discussed the initial VAR ruling that allowed his 60th-minute goal. VAR judged Haaland onside and did not treat Enzo Fernandez’s attempt to play the ball as sufficient interference to disallow it.
This was Haaland’s immediate post-match reaction to the ruling then in force. Pro Ref later said VAR should have recommended an on-field review to assess the likely impact of Fernandez’s position.
