Spain have extended their lead in the FIFA Women's World Ranking after a successful October double-header against the second-placed United States. The world champions won 2-0 in Washington D.C. before drawing 2-2 in Chester, Pennsylvania.
Those results took Spain's advantage at the top to almost 80 points. Germany remain third following victories against Australia and Japan.
Malawi make the biggest climb
Malawi rose 49 places to 104th, the largest upward move in the update. FIFA linked their progress to a run to the final of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, held in July and August.
They overcame opponents including Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana and Algeria. Finishing runners-up also secured their first Women's World Cup appearance, at Brazil 2027.
Cameroon, who defeated Malawi in the continental final, climbed nine places to 62nd. The two teams' movements were among the most substantial changes highlighted by FIFA.
Denmark return to the top ten
Denmark moved up two positions to tenth, returning to the top ten for the first time in 16 years. Having secured World Cup qualification, they travelled to Canada for two friendlies, drawing 1-1 in Montreal and winning 4-3 in Toronto.
Slovenia also advanced two places, reaching a national high of 36th. They progressed to the second round of the European World Cup qualifying play-offs with a 5-3 aggregate victory over Türkiye. The update therefore combines a wider gap at the summit with significant gains for teams pursuing or preparing for the next World Cup.
