YH Entertainment announced on October 20 that Tempest would pause group activities and concentrate on individual members' work. The company said the decision followed extended discussions. Its wording concerns the suspension of collective activity rather than establishing that every contract has ended or that a permanent legal dissolution has occurred.
Members follow separate schedules
Hyuk is expected to enlist for military service on October 26. Lew's exclusive contract ends on November 1. The company said it would continue supporting Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Eunchan and Taerae in individual activities intended to show new sides of their work.
YH Entertainment apologised for the sudden announcement and acknowledged the group's time together and fans' support. Audience reactions cited in the report expressed disappointment, rather than representing a survey of the entire fan community.
Debut history and solo work
Tempest debuted in 2022 with It's Me, It's We and title track Bad News. The original seven-member lineup included Lew, Hyeongseop, Hyuk, Eunchan, Hanbin, Hwa Rang and Taerae. Following Hwa Rang's departure in 2024, it continued with six members.
Releases such as Dragon, Vroom Vroom and On and On emphasised energetic music and choreography. The group worked in South Korea and expanded into Japan.
Vietnamese member Hanbin released his solo video No Fear in August, incorporating áo-dài-inspired clothing and Vietnamese references. That release predates the new announcement. The current change is a shift toward separate activities, while detailed future career arrangements have not all been disclosed.
