Ho Chi Minh City I lifted the 2026 national women's championship trophy on October 18 despite losing 2-1 to Thai Nguyen T&T in round 13.

The champions had secured first place with two rounds to spare. The Vietnam Football Federation said the trophy was their eighth consecutive league title and their 15th overall.

Thai Nguyen strike late

Rain affected conditions at Ngai Giao, where Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy put Thai Nguyen ahead with a ninth-minute penalty.

Ho Chi Minh City I recovered to equalise in the 28th minute. Phan Thi Trang capitalised on a midfield turnover, accelerated towards goal and finished after going through against the goalkeeper.

The champions applied further pressure after the interval but could not convert their opportunities. Thai Nguyen made the decisive breakthrough in the 80th minute, when Bich Thuy supplied the cross for Phan Thi Thu Thin to head home.

The win provisionally moved Thai Nguyen above Ha Noi I into second place, giving the visitors a valuable result in the race behind the already confirmed champions.

Big wins elsewhere

Than KSVN defeated Ha Noi II 7-0 at Cua Ong. Nguyen Thi Truc Huong scored three times, with Tran Nhat Lan, Ho Thi Thanh Mai, Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh and Nguyen Thi Thuy also on target.

Five of the seven goals came before half-time. Ha Noi II finished their campaign without a win in 12 matches, having drawn twice.

Phong Phu Ha Nam beat Ho Chi Minh City II 4-0. Ta Thi Thuy and Tran Thi Lan Anh scored in the first half, before Cao Thi Linh and Luu Hoang Van added second-half goals.

The round combined a trophy presentation for Ho Chi Minh City I with an important change in the contest for the runners-up position.
