The FIBA Europe Cup game between Rilski Sportist and Gence BC will not take place as originally scheduled because of travel-related issues. The Group C regular-season fixture was due to be played in Samokov, Bulgaria, on Wednesday, 21 October.
Matter referred for a decision
In its 19 October statement, FIBA said the case would be referred to the FIBA Europe Single Judge, with a decision to follow in due course. It did not announce a replacement date or a ruling on the outcome.
The notice therefore establishes that the scheduled game cannot go ahead. It does not award a victory, record a forfeit or confirm when the teams will meet instead.
Both clubs were seeking their first group-stage victory. The competition's official results show that Rilski Sportist and Gence BC each lost their opening two matches, providing the sporting background to the disrupted fixture.
Difficult starts in Group C
Rilski Sportist lost 79–75 to Sporting CP after overtime and then fell 94–62 to Esenler Erokspor. Gence BC opened with a 92–63 defeat against Esenler Erokspor before losing 80–62 to Kolossos H Hotels BC.
The group also includes SCM Universitatea Craiova. The official calendar lists Rilski Sportist away to Craiova on 28 October and Gence BC at home to Sporting CP on 29 October.
Those are separate group fixtures, rather than a newly announced date for the Samokov matchup. FIBA's statement concerns the Rilski–Gence game specifically and does not announce a suspension of the group or competition. The handling of that fixture remains subject to the judge's subsequent decision.
