Kayana Traylor scored 37 points as REG recovered from a 15-point deficit to beat KPA 95-79 on the opening day of the 2026 Women's Basketball League Africa qualifiers.

FIBA reported that hosts Fox Divas also won, defeating Burundi's Dynamo 65-60 at the Filbert Bayi Olympafrica Centre in Kibaha, Tanzania.

REG dominate the final quarter

Traylor made seven of 16 three-point attempts, providing a major part of REG's scoring.

The Rwandan team outscored KPA 35-12 in the final quarter to turn an earlier deficit into a 16-point victory.

Delicia Washington added 29 points on 11-for-20 shooting, combining with Traylor to drive the comeback.

Tonie Morgan recorded 13 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds for KPA, but the Kenyan side could not contain REG's late surge.

Fox Divas protect home court

Fox Divas faced a closer contest against Dynamo before securing a five-point win.

Evelyne Nakiyingi led the Tanzanian team with 16 points, making four of five attempts from beyond the arc.

Jescal Julius Ngisaise added 13 points and Hope Akelo contributed 12.

The result gave the hosts a positive opening in a game FIBA described as tightly contested.

Group A is scheduled to resume on Monday with KPA against Dynamo, followed by REG versus Fox Divas.

The first day's results establish an early position in the qualifiers, rather than deciding qualification places or the eventual title.
