Eight clubs begin the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball League Africa qualifying race in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from October 17 to 24. FIBA says the top two will reach the final tournament in Cairo on December 11–20.

Four countries supply the opening field

Dynamo and Les Hippos represent Burundi, KPA and Equity Bank Kenya, REG and APR Rwanda, and Fox Divas BC and Vijana Queens BC Tanzania.

This is a regional qualifying field rather than the complete list for the final tournament. Entry into qualifying does not itself secure a Cairo place.

FIBA describes it as the first of six regional qualifiers, each with its own location and participating teams.

Other zones follow separate schedules

Zone 3 is scheduled for November 4–8 in Monrovia. Listed clubs include Energie Basketball, Friends Basketball Association, D-Rockas and Flames, while Nigerian representatives were still unconfirmed on October 16.

Zone 4 brings six teams to Brazzaville on October 24–28 for two places. Its field includes Overdose Up Station, C.N.S.S., Hatari, Anges Noirs Bantous, Interclub and Charbo Squad.

Luanda is expected to host Zone 6, with clubs including Primeiro de Agosto, BDFV, Bravehearts, Ferroviario Maputo and Dolphins. The announcement does not specify dates for that qualifier.

Further information on Zones 1, 2 and 7 is due later. These are organisational updates, not qualification results. The teams advancing and the eventual Cairo outcome still require the relevant competitions to be completed.
