Vietnam's women's team have five days to refine their plans before opening their Asian Games campaign against Chinese Taipei on September 14. Their final friendly in Suzhou on September 9 ended in a 0-3 defeat to China, giving the coaching staff another opportunity to assess starters and substitutes.

According to the Vietnam Football Federation, the teams were level at half-time. Vietnam maintained their defensive shape and created openings from set pieces, including a 39th-minute move in which Hai Yen headed the ball towards Thanh Nha without a goal resulting.

China scored in the 48th and 58th minutes before adding a third in the 79th. Coach Hoang Van Phuc introduced several players during the second half to test personnel options. Vietnam put the ball in the net in the 85th minute, but the effort was ruled offside.

The coach praised the confidence of younger players given an opportunity, including Luu Hoang Van. Defending set pieces and moving from defence into attack were identified as areas requiring further improvement.

Vietnam's Asian Games group also includes Japan and Thailand. The training visit to China forms part of the team's preparation before competitive fixtures begin, with the friendly offering lessons despite the result.
