Qatar’s under-23 squad arrived in Pleiku on the evening of 7 November, becoming the first international visitors to reach Gia Lai for the 2026 VTV Cup. The Vietnam Football Federation said organisers welcomed the party and arranged accommodation at the Mường Thanh Grand Gia Lai hotel.

The four-team friendly tournament is scheduled for 10–14 November at Pleiku Stadium, with hosts Vietnam joined by Qatar, Singapore and Thailand. The games will give the squads an opportunity to assess players in international competition.

Vietnam’s three scheduled opponents

Tuổi Trẻ published a schedule under which Vietnam face Thailand on 10 November, Singapore on 12 November and Qatar on 14 November. Đinh Hồng Vinh coaches the hosts, whose final listed fixture is against the team from West Asia.

The VFF described Qatar as the first of the three visiting sides to arrive. Tuổi Trẻ said Singapore and Thailand were expected in Gia Lai on 8 and 9 November respectively.

Vietnam’s published schedule includes one match against each visiting side.

Qatar’s travelling squad

Tuổi Trẻ reported that the Qatar selection includes several players born in 2005 and 2006, some of whom had been called up for the 2026 Asian U23 tournament and Asian Games. Centre-back Abdalla Mugib is listed at 1.92 metres, with defenders Aatif Magdi and Yousef Mohammad at 1.89m and 1.88m. Goalkeeper Abubaker Mohamed is also listed at 1.89m.

The measurements come from the published squad list. At the welcome, organisers prepared a traditional gong performance introducing the Central Highlands to the visitors. The federation also sees the tournament as a way to showcase Gia Lai to its guests. See Vietnam national team fixtures.
