Thep Xanh Nam Dinh are top of the 2026/27 V.League after round six. Their 3-1 comeback win over The Cong Viettel at Thien Truong Stadium on 31 October took them to 13 points, one ahead of Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA), who were held 1-1 by Cong An Ha Noi. At the other end, Thanh Pho Dong Nai lost 1-0 at Hai Phong and have still not scored a league goal.
Nam Dinh's comeback
According to the VPF, Wesley Nata gave The Cong Viettel an eighth-minute lead before Paulo Tapeu was sent off on 51 minutes. Tuoi Tre reports that Tran Ngoc Son poked in the equaliser on 55 minutes, Caio Cesar made it 2-1, and Son sealed the win with a shot from the halfway line in the 90+6th minute. It was a third straight win for Nam Dinh after victories over Thanh Hoa (2-0) and Dong Nai (4-0), Bongda24h notes. The Cong Viettel parted company with coach Velizar Popov the same night, after eight games without a win in all competitions.
Son, born in 2003 and a product of the Nam Dinh academy, now has three goals and two assists, level with Nguyen Le Phat and Nguyen Quang Vinh among the league's top Vietnamese scorers. Coach Vu Hong Viet told Tuoi Tre the midfielder's form could earn him a national team call-up from Kim Sang-sik. Bongda24h argues Nam Dinh are sharing the goals around in the absence of injured striker Nguyen Xuan Son. The one worry is Pham Tuan Hai, who went off after 21 minutes with a thigh problem, although his coach does not believe it is serious.
