Nguyễn Văn Vĩ scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time as Nam Định beat Hà Tĩnh 2-1 away on 6 November, despite playing much of the second half with ten men. The V.League leaders moved to 16 points after seven games.
Caio Cesar put Nam Định ahead in the 31st minute. Luiz Antonio equalised in the 83rd after Nguyễn Phong Hồng Duy had been sent off, but Văn Vĩ’s late header secured the points for the visitors.
Two second-half turning points
SGGP reported that Nam Định started proactively but met a well-organised Hà Tĩnh defence. From a corner routine, Felix Eboa Eboa supplied Caio Cesar to head in from close range. The visitors took the 1-0 lead into half-time.
In the second half, Hồng Duy fouled Vương Văn Huy and received a straight red card after the referee consulted VAR. Hà Tĩnh pressed with the extra player, and goalkeeper Trần Nguyên Mạnh had to deal with attempts from Luiz Antonio and Daniel Da Silva.
Daniel set up Luiz Antonio’s 83rd-minute equaliser to make it 1-1. In the fourth minute of added time, however, Caio Cesar drove towards the byline and crossed for Văn Vĩ, who headed in from close range, according to VnExpress.
Leaders extend their run
SGGP said Nam Định moved to 16 points while Hà Tĩnh remained on 11. VnExpress recorded a fourth consecutive league win for Nam Định, following victories against Thanh Hóa, Đồng Nai and Thể Công.
At the end of the match, Nam Định were four points ahead of Sông Lam Nghệ An, having played one game more, VnExpress said. Other round-seven fixtures could still change the standings. More: Vietnam football news.
