SJC gold bars were quoted at a selling price of VND141.2 million per tael on the morning of November 3, up VND1.2 million from the previous afternoon, VnExpress reported. These are historical quotations from that report, rather than November 4 live prices.

Products and transaction sides differ

SJC’s bar quotation was VND138.2 million to buy and VND141.2 million to sell, a VND3 million spread. The two-day increase totalled VND2.2 million per tael.

SJC plain rings were quoted at VND134–138 million per tael. PNJ and DOJI listed approximately VND135.5–139.5 million, while Bảo Tín Minh Châu and Bảo Tín Mạnh Hải quoted VND135.7–139.7 million. Ring spreads were around VND4 million.

The bar and ring figures describe different products. A dealer’s buying price also differs from the selling quotation used in the headline, so the two sides should not be substituted for each other.

The international comparison has its own cutoff

VnExpress reported that spot gold ended the November 2 session at US$3,945 an ounce, up US$71. Using Vietcombank’s dollar selling rate, the report converted that to about VND126.5 million per tael, approximately VND15 million below domestic bars.

Domestic silver moved in the opposite direction, falling 1.6% in the same bulletin. Any subsequent comparison requires a newer dated quotation and the same product and unit. The November 3 report follows the preceding international gold gain while showing separate quotations for bars, rings and silver.
