SJC gold bars were offered at VND 140 million per tael on November 2, reversing part of the weekend decline, VnExpress reported. Its morning snapshot put SJC’s buying price at VND 137 million and selling price at VND 140 million, both VND 1 million higher than at the weekend.

Product and dealer differences

Mi Hong quoted VND 138.3 million for purchases and VND 139.8 million for sales, up VND 800,000. Those figures give it a different spread from SJC. Plain gold rings also carried separate quotations: SJC was around VND 133–137 million and PNJ at VND 134–138 million per tael.

VietnamPlus reported the SJC range of VND 137–140 million at 9:20 a.m. and again in its afternoon account for Hanoi. These are dated observations from the trading day, rather than live prices.

International rebound and its drivers

At 1:33 p.m. Vietnam time on November 2, spot gold rose 0.9% to $3,907.94 an ounce, while December futures gained 0.5% to $3,916.70, according to VNA/VietnamPlus. Capital.com analyst Kyle Rodda described a technical bounce after selling pressure, with lower oil prices providing some relief.

VnExpress separately cited Commerzbank’s assessment that investors had sold safe haven assets to meet margin calls as technology shares fell. Interest rate expectations and the dollar remained part of the wider backdrop.

Attention next turns to the US midterm elections on November 3 and their potential implications for fiscal policy and market sentiment. Domestic buyers comparing these reports should check the latest quotation for their chosen dealer and product, since the published figures refer to different points on November 2.
