Striker Nguyen Xuan Son was expected to return to Vietnam on September 28 for treatment of a hamstring injury sustained during the 1-0 win over the Philippines. Thanh Nien, citing the Vietnam Football Federation, said VFF and FIFA were arranging travel and that VFF would support his rehabilitation.

Medical assessment put the expected recovery period at four to six weeks, ruling him out of the remainder of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup. His travel schedule was a plan at the time of reporting; actual departure requires separate confirmation.
