VietGoal has been selected for the Best Grassroots Club category at the AFC Special Grassroots Awards 2026, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) says. The award ceremony is planned during the AFC Youth Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 15 and 16 December.
How the programme reaches children
After 14 years of operation, VietGoal has recorded more than 50,000 learners, 520 weekly classes and a coaching team of 350, according to the VFF. It runs sessions at schools and in communities, allowing children to train close to where they live. The federation says its programme follows age-based pathways and a consistent curriculum.
SGGP Thể thao gives a more specific date and distinction for the figures. The report says more than 50,000 children had taken part by 30 June 2026. It also records approximately 10,600 training regularly at more than 120 locations. The cumulative participation figure and the current regular group therefore describe different populations.
Nomination and the ceremony ahead
SGGP Thể thao reports that the VFF nominated VietGoal for the award. The newspaper also says the centre worked with Japan's Kawasaki Frontale on technical cooperation in 2024 and 2025. The AFC's selection recognises a community football programme rather than a match result.
The VFF says the AFC invited a VietGoal representative to the conference and award ceremony. The choice has been announced, while the presentation remains scheduled for December. Follow more Vietnam football news.
