Vietnamese merchants can add cross-border QR payments through VietinBank and VNPAY, VnExpress reports. International visitors use supported applications from their own countries to scan VNPAY-QR at participating outlets, reducing the need to switch to another payment method.
Several networks are described
The service covers listed applications and networks in China, South Korea, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. Chinese options include Alipay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay; Korean examples include GLN-linked Naver Pay, Hana Pay and Toss Pay.
Other connections identified are Liquid, LAPNet, ACLEDA's KHQR and ITMX's PromptPay. That list does not establish that every national application works at every Vietnamese shop.
The providers say easier transactions can support retail, dining and tourism services. Those are proposed benefits, not measured revenue improvements for all merchants.
Business tools accompany payment acceptance
VNPAY also describes sales-management software, digital tax tools and transaction-alert speakers. They are intended to help merchants track receipts, record revenue and reduce manual tasks.
The article places the service alongside almost 17.68 million international arrivals during the first nine months, up 14.5% in the cited figures. That visitor flow provides market context for additional payment options.
The 15 October report explains service functions; it does not establish a universal first launch on that date. Actual connections, fees and acceptance depend on providers and participating merchants.
The account therefore does not confirm nationwide availability or that every visitor account can use the service.
