Nguyen Thi Tam beat Alua Balkibekova 5-0 in the Asian Games women’s 51kg boxing semifinal, reaching the final for the first time. VnExpress reported that the Vietnamese boxer defeated the reigning world champion from Kazakhstan.
Tam used movement, controlled distance and timed her punches in the September 30 bout. The victory guarantees at least silver. The final had not taken place in the report, so a gold medal cannot yet be recorded.
