Will Wright says his main motivation is to move closer to Liverpool's first team and learn from its senior forwards. In an October 16 club interview, the 18-year-old described wanting to sustain his scoring form while becoming a more complete player.

Nine goals in eight appearances

Wright's season total reached nine after his hat-trick in the U19s' 4-2 comeback win at LASK in the UEFA Youth League. Liverpool had fallen two goals behind early in the second half.

He also supplied Luca Eden's goal for a 3-2 lead. It was Wright's first hat-trick for the club, a completed milestone recalled in the interview rather than another newly played fixture.

Learning from familiar pathways

Later, Wright and his teammates watched the senior side beat LASK 6-3. Lewis Koumas started and scored his first Champions League goal.

Wright cited Koumas, Luke Chambers and James McConnell as examples of the work required. Conversations with players who have trained with the seniors reinforce his understanding of the standard expected.

He hopes to join that environment and learn from Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. The ambition is not an announcement of promotion or a confirmed first-team debut.

Wright describes himself as a direct striker who likes running behind defences and competing physically, shaped partly by grassroots football on difficult pitches. He also values Liverpool's facilities. His early goals provide encouragement, while continued development remains the route towards the opportunity he wants.
