Garden Pier offers container housing for nearly 2,000 Asian Games athletes
Garden Pier at Nagoya port has about 200 wood-style container units, each roughly 70 square metres and able to house up to six people, as part of the 2026 Asian Games’ dispersed accommodation plan. The units are planned for reuse as temporary disaster-relief housing in Japan after the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

The 20th Asian Games are using dispersed accommodation instead of a traditional athletes’ village, according to Vietnam’s sports authority. Garden Pier at Nagoya port has about 200 wood-style container units, each around 70 square metres, with accessibility features and insulation.
The dining hall has approximately 400 seats and operates from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. After the Asian Games and Asian Para Games, the containers are planned to be reused as temporary disaster-relief housing in Japan.
