Eight gold businesses in Bac Ninh received administrative penalties totalling VND 216.5 million following coordinated inspections in 2026, Bao Chinh Phu reported. Authorities examined 43 businesses, with the main violations involving product labelling and arrangements for supervising and checking measurement.
Information and weight at the counter
The inspection effort involved market surveillance officers, police, tax authorities, the central bank and specialists in standards, measurement and quality. Each agency examined matters within its remit. The eight penalised businesses were a subset of those inspected.
The report highlighted the connection between these requirements and buyers’ interests. Labels on jewellery and decorative gold provide a basis for identifying products and tracing them when needed. Weight is central to transaction value, making suitable measuring equipment and visibility of weighing procedures important parts of transparency.
Alongside inspections, market surveillance officers explained regulations and sought commitments against trading smuggled gold, products of unknown origin, counterfeit goods and imitation brands. Invoices, supporting documents and tax obligations were also identified as areas for further information sharing.
Follow up after penalties
The interagency team plans to keep monitoring key areas and larger businesses. Further inspections may follow instructions from competent authorities or indications of violations, including consumer reports.
The next task is checking compliance with penalty decisions and correction of identified shortcomings, particularly labels and measurement arrangements. Guidance on updated rules will accompany enforcement. That follow up is intended to turn the inspection findings into practical improvements in how gold products are presented, measured and sold.
