Bao Chinh Phu outlined a schedule of diplomatic fees applying at Vietnamese representative offices abroad. Its stated scope covers applicants, collecting organisations and others involved in paying or administering those overseas charges.

Charges vary by document

A new ordinary, diplomatic or official passport carries a $70 charge. An ordinary passport issued through a shortened procedure costs $35, while renewal of a diplomatic or official passport is $30. Replacement following loss or damage is $150.

A single entry visa costs $25. Multiple entry visas are listed at $50 for validity up to three months, $95 for over three to six months, and $135 for over six months to one year. A visa exemption certificate carries a $10 fee.

The nationality charge is $250 for naturalisation and $200 for restoration or renunciation. Certain confirmations concerning nationality, Vietnamese origin or personal status cost $20 per document. These are separate services rather than a single general consular price.

Exemptions have specific conditions

The report lists exemptions involving designated official guests, reciprocal arrangements, humanitarian work and particular difficult circumstances. Certain nationality applications receive separate exemptions linked to exceptional contributions or verified hardship.

Exemptions from criminal record information fees include children, older people, people with disabilities, poor or near poor households and some residents of especially disadvantaged areas. A separate exemption applies to shortened passport procedures for people returning under readmission arrangements.

For an upcoming application, the next step is matching the document and any exemption category with the receiving overseas office. Some hardship exemptions require confirmation from a competent authority or Vietnamese community organisation. The relevant category and its evidence determine which listed charge applies to the particular service.
