Lại Lý Huynh finished the Asian xiangqi championship unbeaten with three wins and four draws but missed a medal, Văn Hóa reports. He tied the leading pair on points after six main rounds but lost out on tiebreaks, then drew the classification game and again fell behind on that criterion. In the women's competition, Đàm Thị Thùy Dung drew with Lâm Hựu Huyên in the classification round and took bronze on eight points through a superior tiebreak.
