Bill Hader will guest-star on Abbott Elementary later in its current season, Variety reports. He disclosed the appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live while promoting The Cat in the Hat, the animated film in which he and Quinta Brunson both have voice roles.
Another collaboration with Brunson
The guest appearance brings the performers together in live action after their voice work. Hader did not identify his character or say when the episode will air, so the announcement does not establish a continuing cast role or a particular broadcast date.
Variety lists Abbott Elementary's Wednesday ABC broadcast and next-day Hulu availability in its original market.
A career across different kinds of comedy
Hader's work on Barry combined creating, writing, directing, executive producing and acting, earning him two comedy lead-actor Emmys. He also co-created Documentary Now! and spent eight seasons on Saturday Night Live between 2005 and 2013.
His film credits include The Skeleton Twins, Trainwreck and It Chapter Two. Animation work ranges from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Angry Birds Movie to Inside Out, Finding Dory and Toy Story 4.
The Cat in the Hat, in which he voices the title character, is listed by the report for a November 6 opening. For Abbott Elementary, the next details to watch are the guest character and episode schedule. His announcement confirms the planned appearance while leaving its place in the show's story under wraps.
