The Art of Elysium has hired communications executive Bill Harrison and creative director Johnny Wujek, according to Variety. Harrison becomes chief marketing officer, while Wujek takes the vice-presidential role in a newly created creative services and talent relations division.
A division of responsibilities
Harrison's brief covers marketing, communications, brand positioning, corporate and cultural partnerships, audience development and major initiatives. He will also help shape the nonprofit's longer-term effort to raise awareness of existing programming and expand its capacity and geographical reach.
Wujek will guide creative work across events, programmes, content and cultural initiatives. Relationships with artists in fashion, music, film and the wider creative community form another part of his remit. The appointment therefore involves building a new division, rather than styling a single event.
Founder Jennifer Howell described their skills as complementary.
Careers behind the appointments
Harrison brings more than two decades in strategic communications, branding and reputation management. He joins from Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis, where his client work included Disney Consumer Products, Amazon Music and the National Hispanic Media Coalition. Earlier roles included running Third Street Media Group and serving as chief executive of Fifteen Minutes Public Relations.
Variety identifies Wujek as an Emmy-winning costume designer, stylist and creative director. Their different backgrounds explain the split between institutional positioning and creative relationships.
As the nonprofit approaches its 30th operating year, the next task is to turn those assignments into programmes, partnerships and a functioning new division.
