Bill Nighy, Hayley Atwell and Maisie Williams have joined the English-language voice cast of The Last Dino. Variety reported that Federico Milella's computer-animated family feature will make its market premiere at the American Film Market before planned international theatrical releases in 2027.
A fictional dinosaur enters an unfamiliar future
The story follows Rex, son of the King of Dinosaurs, who is transported 65 million years forward. He reaches a world where dinosaurs are extinct and his former ideas about strength and status have little value.
Seeking a route home, Rex joins an unlikely group of friends. The adventure explores family, friendship and belonging beyond one's place of origin.
Ben Smith, whose credits include StarDog and TurboCat, wrote the screenplay. Sales representative Global Constellation describes the film as combining slapstick comedy and an emotional family story.
Distribution partners cover multiple regions
Global Constellation, a Vuelta company, handles international sales. Announced buyers include KMBO in France, Sky Original in the UK and Ireland, Umbrella in Australia and New Zealand, and Mockingbird in Vietnam.
Additional deals cover European territories, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, establishing a network for the planned 2027 rollout.
Luxembourg's Fabrique d'Images produces with Belgium's Freaks Factory, the UK's Terrible Lizard Productions and Broadvision Perspectives India. Film Fund Luxembourg and Wallimage support the production.
The next stage is its AFM market presentation and coordination with distribution partners ahead of the planned international releases.
